FIND A GOOD TEACHING PRO
You should approach golf the same way you approach
anything else – with knowledge and repetition. It is true
that in golf there are many different magazines and books and pros
that endorse different tips and game improvement approaches. You
somehow have to fight through all the bad information (yes, there
is lots out there) to get to the good stuff.
A good pro should always be able to provide you
with a steady, building-block process, instead of the ‘tip
of the week’ approach. If you can’t afford regular lessons
to maintain your game, then you should do the next best thing and
purchase a good book or two. My two personal favourites are; Smash
& Carve Golf (naturally) and my idol Ben Hogan’s ‘Five
Lessons’. Adding a good short game book would complete your
study material. From there, get on -- and stay on -- a regular practice
program.
